music is a safe kind of high

La Blogoteque’s Take Away Shows or Les Concerts à Emporter are live acoustic performances filmed all in one take in unusual public settings. The clips are visually beautiful and acoustically impressive given the environment in which each show is set up.

The musicians pop up guerilla style, normally taking the public by surprise, and have at times been asked to leave by security or police. But this only adds to the beautifully organic effect of each clip.

This particular Take Away Show features Local Natives, an awesome four piece (they were originally five but their bassist was recently ousted) indie band from Los Angeles.

I saw the boys perform live at St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival in 2011, and it was (at the risk of sounding like a wanker) an almost spiritual experience. But then, when you have an album on repeat for almost a year, to the point where you know every single string pluck and drum tap, to witness it live is always spine tingling.
